The objectives of the Society shall be:

a) To promote the interests of the hunting retriever breeds, while encouraging excellence in sportsmanship.

b) To encourage and promote responsible ownership of the hunting retriever breeds, and to do all possible to bring their natural multi-purpose qualities to perfection.

c) To promote, support and develop the interest of all owners and/or fanciers of the hunting retriever breeds encouraging sportsmanlike competition in all activities for these breeds, with particular attention to obedience training and the hunting retriever’s usefulness as a conservation partner. The WRHRC activities will consist of tests for hunting retrievers, such as the CKC Hunt Tests and the CKC Working Certificate Tests.

d) To conduct and promote sanctioned matches and approved licensed events under the respective rules of the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) and any other appropriate dog club, organization or association as the Board of Directors sees fit. Such events include but are not limited to hunt tests and working certificate tests for the hunting retriever breeds and other field events.

e) To continuously work to improve the retriever training skills and capabilities of Club members.

f) To promote and encourage members to participate in and support the Club’s CKC licensed events as a way to sustain and improve the sport. To encourage members to develop judging expertise.
